The forest burned as the two Key Bearers fled, having defeated the creature responsible, but lacking the means to stop the blaze. They spared one last glance at the destruction before vanishing, retreating back to the safety of their ship. Had they stayed for a moment longer, however, they might have noticed the flames getting weaker, the heat growing less intense. Little by little, the flames seemed to be suppressed, slowly dying with each passing moment.
And then, as suddenly as it came, it stopped, leaving only a number of scorched trees and undergrowth as evidence it had been there. The man in the black coat looked around at the burnt sc

End of the Beginning
The two figures stood, just out of sight of those on the ground, on the roof of the famous Warrior's Castle, watching the gates and the pathway to the entrance, and, most importantly, the man dressed in white walking said path, still seeming somewhat uncomfortable. One of the two, a man with red hair, mismatched eyes, and a black coat, inhaled, tasting the nervous emotions of the man dressed in white. Nervous, yes. But there was determination. Conviction. He wasn't about to turn back, not after everything that had happened. This brought a smile to the red-haired one's face. All according to plan, so far. We'll see how the rest of it goes.

Quest #1: Green Gathering
Thane, I am glad to hear that you are interested in a quest so quickly after your arrival. I would be pleased to send you on a quest as I have one that is in need of attention.
For your first Quest, something simple, as I do with every member. In Radiant Garden there is a plant that is hard to find. Gysahl Greens. Your task is to go and aid Aerith in finding and gathering these rare plants and protecting her from Heartless.

Purpose//The Day of Fate
After arriving in Traverse Town, I admit I was rather disappointed. From what I had seen, the War had caused more grievous of injuries to the sanctity of the World than I had dared to fear in my time. I was born on Earth. That much I should establish here. I had an older brother when I lived there. His name was Joseph. This was probably for the best, all things considered. We were never rich, but we didn't need to be- we got by well enough. Not that I remember- I was only two when my parents died and left Joseph and me alone.
But Joseph tells me they were very kind people. He was six.
My earliest memory comes when I was three. Joseph and I had been put into foster care until a more permanent solutio

This is a novelization of the Mass Effect games told from the perspective of Commander Isaac Shepard, Infiltrator-class, and his thoughts and perspectives on the events he has witnessed and participated in.
This story begins with a prologue in which Isaac further details his background, the first part of which is his thoughts of life on Earth, leading up to his decision to enlist in the Alliance military. The second part vaguely describes his time during active duty, but is largely devoted to the events of the Skyllian Blitz, of which he participated.
Chapter One will commence at the same point as the first Mass Effect game, with Isaac
